You are thinking of going to the famed “Dracula’s Castle,” which actually has very little historical significance, but is very beautiful!
Great, so you want to get to where all those beautiful photos of the castle are taken from. I am here to help.
If you walk around the castle and do not enter the gates, you will find yourself approaching a grass field opposite of the castle.
From this grass field you will see and outcropping in the hill above and a cross placed on that hill. That is your goal.
You will see several trails headed up into the mountain. Take the one on the right side – closest to the castle. The other side will lead you to the top of the hill, but not to a viewpoint.
Climb about 15 minutes and you will find the cross and the view. Comment with any questions, enjoy.

I am going the day after tomorrow. Let’s see if I manage to find it!
Good luck, how’d it turn out?!
Thank’s for these directions! We made it to the cross but we were not expecting it to be quite so steep as it was!! Haha, worth it though, can’t wait to see how my pics came out 🙂
Yea! Really steep. That’s why most people go around and miss it I think. Is there anywhere I could see the pics? 🙂 K
Hey Kyle,
been trying to view the spot on google maps, and can not seem to find the exact location. There are multiple grassy fields across from Bran – any GPS coordinates you can provide?
Thank you!
Kyle, thanks for the good info. I just spent some time at Bran and used your post for photos. Here are details and a guide pic for others: https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g608956-i12014-k12494649-Where_to_Photograph_Bran_Castle-Bran_Brasov_County_Central_Romania_Transylvania.html?m=19905#99573038
Thanks, for sharing Peter. Glad you enjoyed!
