Starting School, Again (NYU Wagner, Impact Investing)

July 9, 2020

September 2019 – I started at NYU Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. I am pursuing an MPA in Social Impact, Innovation, and Investment – their name not mine. In my words, I study impact investing. The intention is to become and impact investor. 10 months later, I figured it would be good to document my process. I still have this blog active, so why not write on it?

How many years of school have I done? 17 (counting kindergarten).

What I have learned? I would also like to know. However, you live the life you have and imagining what else could exist is futile.

What have I not learned? I am more excited about this question. You know that feeling when you are walking up a flight of stairs and you think you are at the top and another flight appears. Learning is like that. You realize what you don’t know is greater than what you do know. When I feel motivated and curious, this is a wonderful feeling. When I feel anxious to enter the workforce, this is not a wonderful feeling because I realize my deficits.

Why did you do this? I believe that learning and obtaining knowledge is rewarding. However, training oneself to learn and obtain knowledge is even better. The last 5 years of my life, I’ve tried to focus on the later. Now I am focusing on the former and using the later. Education is about efficiency. Efficiency is driven my your internal and external tools. And I wanted a job I could enjoy for the rest of my life.

You’re back to blogging? I guess so, haha.

Love,

Kyle
